"Invest in Yourself" is a phrase I use to refer to re-humanizing education with relevant learning and retooling in order to have confidence to deal with whatever happens.

Most schooling today carries the increasingly outdated industrialized approach to learning, seeking to equip students like they would assembling an automobile by linear stacking rather than a humanized approach like tending to a garden ecosystem which requires a more observant approach to what is needed and hence relevant during the present season. This is a more dynamic approach, requiring some degree of foresight and contextual preparation instead of mass replication.
The education and learning for a human being is (and should be) dynamic rather than industrially static with the goal of replicating the standardization. A garden ecosystem makes it obvious that nothing in nature is identical or standardized. The beauty is in the collective differentiation, and in the daily tending to each individual plant, shrub, flower at their own individual level without applying the same standards across to all within the garden.
Tools (like technology) allow us to exponentially increase output size, speed, and quantity. This is their purpose. Our purpose as sentient human beings is to decide the direction and vision in which to apply these tools. Our purpose is not to compete with or resist these tools. Our purpose is to deepen our humanity and intuitive wisdom, and dare to envision the best use of the emerging tools, thereby leading to its positive development rather than leaving it to the lowest common denominators of human impulses to dictate or direct.
History clearly shows us this. With every new era or age in history, the users of tools in the current and previous era would often resist the emerging new tools that signal a change in era is upon them. Perhaps out of pride and familiarity regarding their past success with current tools, or inconvenience and resistance in having to learn something new from scratch, there is always the initial rejection of what is emerging, and for many to forego the opportunity to purposefully direct and meaningfully lead in a visionary direction to the benefit of many.
Ultimately, we are called to dare to positively envision instead of fearfully decry the tools that are emerging during our moment in time. By doing so, we are invested in our FutureSelf and we gain confidence as a result. This, therefore, then becomes one of the pillars of our Futureproof Foundation.
On a future occasion I will talk about humanity-based subjects that are valuable and not replaceable by tools (technology) because they are the basis of our humanity and what it means to be human.
Investing in yourself includes investing and deepening into your humanity because this is what connects you with others in a way that goes beyond the functional and into the unconscious connection shared by our humanity.
And it also includes the curiosity and determination to learn and practice new tools, while infusing your humanity into their use and application.

In "The Futureproof Way", we talked about city-society system dependencies that keep us in a DUST state. When it comes to Education, it would be wise to not completely rely on a city-society's schooling and certifying system which ultimately lead to outdated dependencies and irrelevance-anxieties because rapid changes are outpacing their tediously outdated processes and curriculum, including the "streaming" of students that is reminiscent of factory processes. If your true goal is personal education and learning, you are better off realizing that all education is based on value, and having that as the most important motivator for learning, because this preserves your curiosity and desire to learn continually the rest of your life.
Education (and learning) should always be based on value;
and value is always based on relevance.
What is always relevant is anything future-related and/or human-related. This is what we simply refer to as futureproof education.
Because it will always be relevant; and therefore, always valuable.
